Lobbying for Baseball...

I wrote this as a test for the action alert system we use at work... It's not true, but it's kind of entertaining...

The Future of baseball is at risk.

Many of you are friends of baseball and work hard to maintain the important status of the game as “America’s Pastime.” However, an unforeseen risk has taken shape in the form of the designated hitter rule.

As you will all be aware, the Designated Hitter (DH) rule is currently in place in the American League. This rule allows a pitcher to sit out his at-bat and replaces him with a batter who has not been fielding during the game.

While this may seem like a ridiculous rule for many reasons, today, at We Heart the National League (WHNL), we’re focusing on the fact that strategy is lost by the DH rule. We feel that managers are not forced to make hard decisions when they have the opportunity of subbing for the pitcher.

We have accepted the disappointment of allowing the American League to use the DH as best as we can. However, Major League Baseball (MLB) is proposing to allow all teams (including the National League) to use DH’s.

We strongly urge you to contact your Congressional Representatives to urge them to contact MLB on our behalf to stop this atrocity!!!
